Laser Skin Renewal

Plastic Surgery Associates offers today’s most advanced lasers, including the CO2 Laser—Fractional Lumenis ActiveFX
Fractional Lumenis UltraPulse Encore, Medlite™ Q-Switched YAG, and VBeam™. We use this state-of-the-art laser technology to correct pigmentation problems, wrinkles, and poor elasticity.

Repairing wrinkles, blemishes, uneven pigment, or sun-damaged skin

We use a high-energy beam of CO2 light to vaporize these irregularities, layer by layer.  This process also stimulates the formation of new collagen to provide better elasticity and support for the skin. The CO2 laser can be used on the full face or targeted regions.  It is delicate enough that even sensitive areas on your lips and around your eyes can be resurfaced safely. Skin resurfacing, as the procedure is known, often delays the need for a facelift. It may also be used to smooth any fine lines that remain after a facelift or eyelid lift. Recovery typically takes 7-10 days, with the initial redness fading to light pink in a few weeks. This discoloration is easily camouflaged with cosmetics and usually disappears in one to three months.

Treating brown spots

We can erase freckles, age spots, and birthmarks with the Medlite Q-Switched YAG laser, one of the most advanced lasers available today. The Medlite delivers light in very short, high-intensity pulses. It passes through your skin but is absorbed by the brown spots, reducing the melanin concentration to the same shade as the rest of your skin. Unlike other lesion removal methods, there is little risk that your skin will be whitened or scarred. As for pain, patients say the pulses of light feel similar to the snap of a thin rubber band.

At least 80 percent of all common pigmented lesions are removed with one treatment; however, large areas may require several treatments. Afterward, the area will feel slightly sunburned, but the discomfort typically disappears within a day or two. You can take a shower the next day, but the area may remain reddened for two to four weeks. Common pigment lesions do not return. Some birthmarks may return after several months to a year, but the procedure can be repeated with similar results.
